Where are attachments stored?

There are two different kinds of attachments. One is for tasks and the other one is for events.

Tasks: The attachments are stored in users‘ private iCloud account Events: They are stored in a public iCloud database The reasons behind this implementation are:

  • Tasks are the primary content in Sorted³ and they are stored inside the app and if iCloud Sync is turned on they are stored in the users private iCloud.

  • When we take a look at events they are stored in their own calendar app, like Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.

  • Events can be created in a shared calendar and notes and attachments inside events are shared as well.

In order to make this as easy as possible, attachments are stored in a public database and they will be deleted after 15 days (counting from the start date of the event).

If a user added something to an event which is shared as well others can see it. Thus there is a URL starting with file.staysorted.com to access them.

Notes

  • With all this in mind we suggest not to store sensitive attachments in events

  • If you need to access them in the long run they should be added to tasks not events.

  • Please keep in mind there is a file size limit of 10MB for attachments in events.
